Let me introduce you to the most underrated TV show ever:
Halt and Catch Fire
2014-2017
(at least among what I’ve ever watched..)
Not sure why or how that happened, but from all the mega-successful AMC‘s originals like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Better Call Saul and others, this one just “fell off the shelf” .
Even though it has the full-house of great ingredients:
⋆ magnificent cast
— Lee Pace (The Hobbit / Foundation / Soldier’s Girl), Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049 / Station Eleven), Scoot Mcnairy & Kerry Bishé (Argo), Toby Huss (Colony), Mark O’Brien (Hannibal), the very special for The Walking Dead fans – Cooper Andrews, etc;
⋆ greatly captivating topic
— technology competition in the world of computer and communication developments;
(because of that topic, even during the time
of insanely tough schedule upon my studies,
I continued to watch this show, and only this)
⋆ remarkable attention to the details
— from decorations and wardrobe, to issues and trends of the early ’80s and further ’90s;
⋆ extraordinary cinematography
— and I’m not talking about wild beauty nature shots. But it’s about those small cuts — just in the Right time, just from the exactly right angle, that makes your blood circle faster, as the story gets into your veins and it’s like your heart missing a beat, making it a pure excitement;
⋆ and
— the entangled AMC’s style drama, tied between creation, family, passion, friendship, love, devotion and competition. Like a forever unsolved love triangle .
I’m not saying that everyone have to go crazy over it. In summary, I actually felt about this show same way I felt about True Blood — you either connect from the first few episodes, or it’s just not your zest.
But if you like it in the beginning — you will love, love, love it to the end.
As the story unfolds through the seasons, with each of its pieces carried out in such a gently involving way – masterpiece! – that I really couldn’t care less about some goofs (such happen on any show, by the by).
The verdict — it’s Very good.
So before you catch yourself hooked on the “new Vikings”, or the upcoming The Last of Us and the “new Game of Thrones” — give Halt and Catch Fire a proper try.
You may find it as delightful as it have been for me
↬ You can find Halt and Catch Fire series on AMC+ / Amazon Prime Video / Apple TV & others
